In 2015, Hmong Museum began as a museum without walls bringing cultural richness to the Hmong community and beyond. In its first two years, the Museum implemented three projects aimed at preserving Hmong culture. Your contribution will help us do more this upcoming year.

Keynote Speakers
- Kao Kalia Yang
We are excited to have Kao Kalia Yang as our keynote speaker. She is an award winning author of The Song Poet and The Late Homecomer. Kao Kalia Yang is a Hmong-American writer. She is the author of The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir (Coffee House Press, 2008), winner of the 2009 Minnesota Book Awards in Creative Nonfiction/Memoir and Readers Choice, and a finalist for the PEN USA Award in Creative Nonfiction and the Asian Literary Award in Nonfiction. Her second book, The Song Poet (Metropolitan Books, 2016) won the 2016 Minnesota Book Award in Creative Nonfiction Memoir. It was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Chautauqua Prize, a PEN USA Award in Nonfiction and the Dayton’s Literary Peace Prize. Her third book, a children’s picture book, A Map Into the World (Carolrhoda Books) will be out in fall of 2019. Yang is also a teacher and a public speaker.
- Kevin Yang
Kevin Yang is a Hmong American writer and performer from the Twin Cities. He has performed at venues such as Brave New Voices and CUPSI. He has also featured on platforms such as Button Poetry and the Fulcrum. He is also a member of the Speakers of the Sun APIA spoken word collective. Kevin finds great inspiration unraveling his experience as a Hmong soul born in the United States.
